Bike Club Haddenham

Bike Club TrainHaddenham Cycle Training runs a monthly Bike Club for young people aged 11 and over. If you are younger, you can join Bike Club Haddenham if you have achieved Bikeability Level 2.

In response to requests from many older children who have completed our Level 2 Cycling Course, we set up a Cycle Club in March 2009 with a grant from Thames Valley Police.

Bike Club Haddenham on a rideThe Club is now being incorporated into the CTC Bike Club Programme. Bike Club is a national scheme that aims to work with thousands of young people and families across Britain to help them make cycling a part of their lives.

Bike Club Haddenham meets on the first Saturday of each month at Haddenham Youth and Community Centre (Woodways) from 2 to 4pm, between February and November. Become a member

Bike Club Haddenham MaintenanceWe run a varied and exciting programme to appeal to young cyclists of all abilities and experience:

  • Great local cycle rides
  • Mountain biking
  • BMX cycling
  • Bike maintenance
  • Try-a-bike with different bikes such as folding bikes, unicycles, ordinary and racing trikes, tandems, racing bikes, recumbent bikes
  • Games and competitions

You do not have to live in Haddenham to come to Bike Club Haddenham. If you are interested, please talk to us about how you could set up a Bike Club in your area.

Testimony from a parent: I’d like to say a big thank you for all the bike club events you held last term, they had a massively beneficial effect during our holiday. We made the most of the fabulous German cycle paths and completed several long cycle rides and tackled hills steeper then those we faced at Eythrope. The bike rides we went on with you definitely gave us the confidence and fitness levels to do more family cycling.

Pauline's blog: Riding from village to village is quick and easy! Haddenham Bike Club is showing their members how fast, easy and enjoyable it is to ride around their local villages by bike. A round trip of 6 miles took us through beautiful countryside, through Cuddington Village and into the Bell Pub at Chearsley for tea, squash and chips and cheery faces!
These fun Bike club rides take place once per month and invite young people and their families to join in a variety of outings – to local villages, as well as further afield for special occasions, for example they travelled by train to join the London Sky ride, enjoying the busy atmosphere, which contrasts well with the local, easy-going ride that I joined in with on Saturday. The group and the rides are led by Haddenham Cycle Training staff in their own time, who are confident with cycling on the roads and lead the group competently, demonstrating good “snaking” practice – guarding junctions seamlessly to allow everyone to gain confidence and skills on the road, while knowing that they are well looked after.Good practice in Snaking enables an enjoyable, confidence-building ride along country lanes in Bucks.
